Master Plan

It has been over 60 years since North Shore Airport saw its first flights. Throughout that time, we have seen our airport evolve into a vibrant hub of activity and opportunity. It has become a place where aviation enthusiasts can indulge in their passion, families can enjoy recreational activities, and friends can create lasting memories. The airport has also played a crucial role in fostering careers in aviation, providing jobs and training opportunities for aspiring pilots, engineers, and support staff. The presence of North Shore Airport has not only contributed to the local economy but has also enriched the lives of countless individuals by offering a space where dreams take flight and community spirit soars.

However, the environment around us in Dairy Flat is changing. Over the last 10+ years, we have seen large swathes of land earmarked for urban development, notices of requirement put in place to protect future transport corridors, and the evolution of many former lifestyle properties into industrial yards as we transition towards this new future.

North Shore Airport has throughout this period been looking at the impacts on its future and how we integrate with our new environment as best we possibly can. The changes have implications for the airport, and we need to carefully consider how we keep pace with the changing operational environment.

Our original Master Plan was published in 2020 and we have recently undertaken a review. We would like to hear the views of all our stakeholders, from members of North Shore Aero Club (our owner), to people employed at the various businesses based at North Shore Airport. From the students undergoing training at the resident flight schools to the local community and our neighbours.

We will be holding a drop-in session on Saturday 14th September between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm at North Shore Aero Club, 260 Postman Road. This is an opportunity to talk to our team and learn more about the airport and its facilities.

If you wish to make a submission, please do so by 5:00 pm on 29th September 2024. Submissions can be provided in a number of ways:

  1. Email your submission to North Shore Airport at [email protected]
  2. Write to North Shore Airport at:

North Shore Airport Master Plan Consultation

260 Postman Road, RD4 Albany, Auckland, 0794

As we are all affected by the environmental changes in the local area, we also welcome discussion on the wider topic of urbanisation as we seek ways to work together with the community and our stakeholders to ensure the best long-term outcomes for all.
